School transport: routes, vehicles, parent SMS — one panel

Most schools handle transport on a wall whiteboard and a WhatsApp group. Here is how to bring routes, route-fees, vehicle compliance dates, drivers, and parent communication into one module that actually saves time.

Transport is the most underrated school module. Routes change every quarter, fees are different per stop, vehicles need PUC and insurance renewals, drivers move on, and parents call the office every monsoon morning asking "bus aaya?".

The Vidyakrit transport module covers all of this in one panel.

ROUTES + STOPS
Each route is a named list of geo-pinned stops, in order, with an arrival time at each stop. A stop can have a stop fee (extra ₹500/year for the farther stops). When you add a stop, you can drop a Google Maps pin and the distance auto-computes.

VEHICLES + COMPLIANCE ALERTS
Each vehicle row carries:
- Registration number, capacity, fitness expiry, PUC expiry, insurance expiry
- Driver assignment with phone number
- Conductor / attendant assignment

The dashboard widget flags any vehicle whose PUC / insurance / fitness expires within 30 days. No more nasty surprises at the RTO.

STUDENT ↔ ROUTE LINKAGE
A student's admission form can pick a route. The student row then automatically:
- Inherits the route fee into their fee structure
- Appears on the route's daily roster
- Their parent's phone goes into the route's SMS group

ROUTE SHEETS FOR THE DRIVER
The driver opens their phone, taps "My route today". They see a sequential list of stops, each with the children due to board there, with parent phone next to each name. Tap a name = call the parent. Tap "Mark boarded" = check in.

PARENT COMMUNICATION
The route module has a one-click "delay notification" button. The transport in-charge taps it, picks how many minutes the bus is delayed, and a SMS goes to every parent on the route in under 30 seconds. Saves the school office from 50 calls.

PER-ROUTE FINANCIAL VIEW
Route X has 28 students. Each pays ₹4,800/year. Annual fuel + driver salary for Route X = ₹3,12,000. Revenue ₹1,34,400. Loss ₹1,77,600. The module shows this per-route P&L so the school knows which routes are viable.

A small detail principals love: route-wise pickup/drop time PDF that you can WhatsApp to parents at the start of the session. No more "kal subah bus kab aayegi?" calls in August.
