From marks entry to ranked gazette in 12 minutes

The exam module covers the full lifecycle: date sheet → marks entry → CBSE-style auto-grade → marksheet PDF → rank gazette → parent SMS. Here is how it cuts a 3-day job down to 3 hours.

Result day at a typical Indian school: the staff room becomes a war zone. Calculators clack, white-out covers errors, and someone is always shouting "Sharma sir, V-A wala Maths kahaan rakha?" By 6 PM the marksheets are still wet from the printer and three students have wrong totals.

Here is what the same process looks like with the Vidyakrit exam module.

PHASE 1 — DATE SHEET (10 minutes)
Create the exam (Unit Test 1 / Half Yearly / Annual). Pick the subjects, set max marks per subject, choose which classes write it. The date sheet PDF generates itself, with school header, exam name, dates per subject, and seating instructions.

PHASE 2 — ADMIT CARDS (1 minute)
Bulk-generate admit cards for an entire class. The PDF carries student photo, roll number, exam centre, subject dates and QR-verifiable signature. Parents get the PDF on WhatsApp before the first paper.

PHASE 3 — MARKS ENTRY (the longest step)
A subject teacher logs in, picks their class + subject, and sees a grid: student × max marks. Type marks, tab to next student, repeat. The grid auto-saves every 10 seconds. Class teacher gets a one-line "remark" field per student that flows into the marksheet.

PHASE 4 — AUTO-GRADE + AUTO-RANK (instant)
CBSE-style grade boundaries are pre-configured (A1 = 91-100, A2 = 81-90, etc.). The system auto-computes:
- Subject grade per student
- Overall percentage
- Class rank (with ties handled correctly)
- Section rank if you use sections
- Section-of-the-class rank if you have parallel sections

PHASE 5 — PUBLISHING (one click)
The principal hits "Publish results". Three things happen at once:
- Marksheets become visible on parent + student portals
- A "Result published" SMS goes to every parent with the student's percentage + grade
- The result gazette becomes downloadable (sorted by rank, class-wise, A4 printable)

PHASE 6 — MARKSHEETS + RANK GAZETTE (PDF)
Marksheet PDF per student or for an entire class. The rank gazette PDF lists every student in descending rank, signed by the principal, ready to go on the notice board.

THE NUMBERS THAT MATTER
- 240 students × 8 subjects = 1,920 marks entered.
- Subject teacher enters their 240 marks in ~25 minutes.
- All 8 teachers working in parallel: 25 minutes total.
- Auto-grade + rank: 4 seconds.
- PDF generation for 240 marksheets: 90 seconds.
- SMS dispatch to 240 parents: 30 seconds.

What used to be a 3-day exercise becomes 30 minutes of work spread across the subject teachers. The principal signs the result gazette and goes home for dinner.

One overlooked feature: seat-plan PDF. The exam module auto-generates an anti-copying seat plan (interleaved roll numbers across sections) and prints it for the invigilator. Small thing, real impact.
