Modernise your school library without buying RFID

Catalogue, issue, return, fines, reservations, popular-books report — all from the librarian's phone. Barcode-based, so the existing book stickers keep working.

Most school libraries we walk into have a notebook with handwritten entries: "13/06 — Std VII Rahul — Wings of Fire — return by 27/06". The librarian is the only one who knows where anything is, and when she retires, that institutional knowledge goes home with her.

A modern library does not need RFID. Barcode is enough — your existing stickers already work — and the workflow is dramatically simpler.

CATALOGUE ONCE
Bulk-import books from Excel (you can also paste the list from your Amazon order history). Each book has: title, author, ISBN, language, accession number, subject category, copies count, location shelf, current condition.

ISSUE IN 8 SECONDS
The librarian opens "Issue book" on the phone. Scans the student's ID card barcode (or types the admission number). Scans the book's barcode. Done. The system:
- checks if the student has any overdue books (warning shown)
- checks if the book is reserved by someone else (warning shown)
- records issue date + due date (configurable: 7/14/21 days)
- sends a "Book issued" SMS to the parent if the school wants

RETURN + AUTO-FINE
Return is one barcode scan. If the book is overdue, the fine appears on the student's fee account automatically (configurable per-day fine). If a reservation existed, the next student in queue gets a SMS that the book is available — pick up within 48 hours.

CONFIGURABLE RULES
Different limits per role:
- Junior (Std I-V) — 1 book, 7 days
- Senior (Std VI-X) — 2 books, 14 days
- Senior+ (XI-XII) — 3 books, 21 days
- Teachers — 5 books, 30 days

POPULAR BOOKS REPORT
The dashboard shows which books are being issued most, which sit untouched for a year, which have constant waitlists. The school can use this to plan next year's library budget — ditch the dead weight, buy more of what students actually want.

WHATSAPP REMINDERS
Three days before due date, a soft reminder. On overdue day, a fine-warning SMS. Both DLT-template compliant. The librarian stops being the bad guy who has to remind people in person.

A surprisingly useful side effect: the library starts to look smaller. When you stop allowing the same student to keep a book for a month, books come back, and the shelves stay full. Issue counts double in the first month.
