Board affiliation renewal: the essentials checklist
CBSE / ICSE / State Board affiliation renewals fail for predictable reasons: stale teacher qualification proofs, missing safety certificates, wrong infrastructure photos, outdated UDISE. A pre-flight that clears every one of these.

Board affiliation renewal is a stressful 90-day window. The board doesn't reject for bad teaching; they reject for paperwork. The same six issues come up:
1. Teacher qualification proofs out of date. B.Ed certificates, M.A. / M.Sc proofs, CTET pass certificates — every teacher must have a current scan. Maintain a per-teacher document folder in your SMS so you're not photocopying at 11 PM.
2. Missing safety certificates. Fire safety NOC, building stability certificate, drinking water lab report — each has a 1 or 2 year validity. Track expiry per certificate; renewal reminder 60 days before.
3. Infrastructure photos with wrong dates. The board wants photos from THIS year showing the lab, library, playground, with measurable evidence. EXIF data is checked; use a phone with date overlay.
4. UDISE+ data mismatch. Affiliation reads from UDISE; if your UDISE student count is 1100 and your affiliation form says 1200, it's a hard fail.
5. Pupil-Teacher Ratio violations. CBSE expects ~30:1; State boards vary. Per-class strength reports surface ratio violations before the board does.
6. Income & expenditure statements. Audited financial statements for the last 2 financial years. The audit lead time is 30+ days — don't start in February.
Strategy: keep a "Board Affiliation" folder in your SMS that the affiliation officer can hand to the inspector when they arrive — every cert, every photo, every report dated. The 90-day window then takes 2 weeks of focused work, not 90 days of panic.
